Cottage Kitchen Before and After

Cottage kitchen before

Have you ever seen a tinier kitchen in your life? How my hubby’s Grandmother was able to serve 25 people Thanksgiving dinner from this kitchen is a mystery that never ceases to amaze me. Seriously?!?

This wall separated the kitchen and bedroom from the living room.

Needless to say it could be improved. The kitchen, along with a small adjacent bedroom, completely blocked the view to the lake. Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t  that the whole point of coming to a cottage? The Lake, the views, the peaceful scenery?? The natural answer was to knock it all down and open it right up so that you could make a meal while not feeling like you’ve been put in a corner. Nobody puts Mommy in the corner.

Without the centre wall, we can now enjoy the beautiful view that the property offers from all parts of the cottage.

That is one smart kitty! He's found the best seat in the house. I'm loving how this window seat has come together. The lovely ladies @plentythemag invited me to contribute again, this time sharing my tips for family friendly cottage style! Check it out (link in profile)!! This progress shot from yesterday's install at #cmiprojectfairlawn is making me all kinds of happy. What kid (or adult in my case) doesn't want a window seat! I can't wait to get this baby dressed with all the finishes. Terrific built-ins by @paulclinkard Happy 4th of July!!!
